Spencer Stuart: Analysis of Infrastructure Leadership

In this report, Spencer Stuart has analyzes the career paths of 150 CEOs from infrastructure companies around the globe in an attempt to draw conclusions about how companies within this industry may navigate the issues currently facing this sector. The CEOs studied span across a variety of sectors: Utilities, Engineering & Construction, Rail, Airports, and Ports.

Key findings include:

• Despite research showing that companies in the top quartile for gender diversity are 15% more likely to post financial returns, only 7% of the CEOs studied were female.
• Two-thirds of infrastructure CEOs in the study were appointed internally.
• Over 40% of infrastructure CEOs studied came from either the operations and supply chain or from the commercial function.
