Spencer Stuart: Results of What Directors Think 2017 Survey

Spencer Stuart has published their 14th annual What Directors Think survey. In collaboration with NYSE Governance Services, Spencer Stuart has surveyed over 600 board members to create a comprehensive report of the current challenges and best practices of corporate directorship in the United States.

Key findings include:

  • Six out of 10 directors do not anticipate the new administration to bear any effect on SEC enforcement efforts, although 41% predict a chilling effect.
  • Almost half of board members believe length of tenure does not affect board autonomy.
  • 58% of those surveyed are in favor of only tweaking certain provisions of Dodd-Frank, as opposed to completely repealing it.
