Heidrick & StrugglesBoard Monitor Asia Pacific report focuses on trends related to non-executive director (NED) appointments for Fortune 500 companies in the APAC region (listed on the ASX 200, Hang Seng Index, NZX 500, and Straits Time Index).

Key findings include:

  • Of the 263 new NED appointment seats, 56% went to current or former CEOs.
  • Of these 263 seats, 31% went to women, showing great progress for diversity. The percentage of female appointments is higher than the current average percantage of women serving on boards.
  • A large majority of appointees had public board experience, where strong functional knowledge was preferred.
  • International experience and diversity of thought and backgrounds was a key focus area.
