Tyler & Company Celebrates 40 Years

Tyler & Company has reached the rare milestone of 40 years in the healthcare executive search business and is one of the first executive search firms to specialize in healthcare. A perennial member of Modern Healthcare’s “Largest Healthcare Executive Search Firms” list, as well as Forbes’ slate of “America’s Best Executive Search Firms,” Tyler & Company places C-suite and other executive leaders in hospitals, academic medicine institutions, and health sciences firms throughout the U.S.

“In preparation for our 40th year, we have been innovating to adapt to the market so that we can continue as a premier healthcare executive search firm. We are excited about the changes on the horizon at Tyler & Company which we are rolling out in 2018,” says Preston Smith, president of Tyler & Company since October 2016.

Over the course of 40 years and counting, Tyler & Company’s recruiters and consultants have served well over a thousand clients, successfully placing thousands of professionals ranging from CEOs to directors of nursing to interim leaders. Many clients have retained the firm for executive searches for more than a decade.

"Tyler & Company guided us through a seemingly daunting task [a CEO search], making it a positive journey for all. The company's knowledge and understanding of the healthcare industry and its executive leadership, coupled with its protocols and procedures, were all important facets of this successful search. The company allowed us to focus on the candidates with the assurance that 'no stone had been left unturned.' Together, we found the best person to build on FirstHealth's history and to guide us into these challenging times in healthcare," says Alex Bowness, Board Chair and Chair of CEO Search Committee at FirstHealth of the Carolinas in Pinehurst, NC.

Tyler & Company is known for its proficiency in finding outstanding candidates for highly specialized, niche positions in healthcare leadership, a task that has become increasingly challenging as technology now offers the unfiltered profiles of hundreds of professionals that are available nationwide. The growth of healthcare technology along with changing healthcare regulations have made searching for talented and qualified candidates a challenge that requires search consultants with broad experience and a deep understanding of all facets of executive positions.

As Tyler & Company looks forward to continued service and expansion of its portfolio of national and local healthcare clients, the firm intends to retain its highly personalized, boutique approach, characterized by a staff of senior consultants who provide searches that are tailored to the situations of each client. “Like the hospitals and healthcare institutions we serve, our core focus will continue to revolve around fundamentals of integrity, open communication, and the highest degree of personal service to our candidates and clients,” says Preston Smith.
