Scott Thomas joins Raines International to Build a Global Advisory Function Serving Companies Committed to Change

Raines International announced that Dr. Scott Thomas has joined as a Managing Director and Head of People Advisory Services. Based out of Raines’ San Francisco office, Mr. Thomas will offer clients a structured approach to solving their most complex management and human capital challenges. His unique insights and his ability to develop a thorough, adaptable and proprietary process will be enormous assets for Raines and its clients globally. While Mr. Thomas’ primary client base includes technology, health care and high-growth organizations, he has collaborated with partners across sectors and regions to deliver solutions that benefit organizational strategy, leadership development, culture and organizational effectiveness.

“Scott offers a unique combination of successful strategy-through-implementation transformations in the areas where organizations have the most difficulty driving change management. His substantive track record, influencing skills, and collaborative nature will be a difference maker for our clients and our firm,” said Mr. Dan Smith, Chief Executive Officer of Raines International. “Every organization must reflect, regroup, and rebuild, and we are elated to have Scott as a Partner as we navigate the same ‘make or break’ scenarios as our clients.”

Prior to joining Raines, Mr. Thomas led the global organizational analytics function for McKinsey & Company; was a senior member of the Katzenbach Center at Strategy& (now part of PwC); and was a Senior Consulting Psychologist at Vantage Leadership Consulting. Previously, he led Performance Management at Google and Leadership Development at GE Digital. This combination of advisory and executive leadership experiences provides him with a perspective on leadership that is rare in the industry. Mr. Thomas holds a doctorate in Industrial / Organizational Psychology as well as a Masters of Arts Degree in Psychology from DePaul University. His research has been published in Harvard Business Review, Forbes Magazine, Strategy+, and Personnel Psychology.

Mr. Thomas said: “I have served in high-profile roles at several of the top companies in the world, and I’m excited to work with some of the smartest, most interesting, and purpose-driven individuals in this field. It will be a great opportunity to continue to build the People Advisory practice at Raines.”

Since the firm announced Mr. Smith as CEO last year, Raines has expanded its senior management team and offered several new business platforms to clients, most recently launching the Raines Talent Marketplace, a two-sided digital platform connecting candidates and companies looking to make a difference. Raines opened an office in Buenos Aires in late 2019, as well as offices in Chicago and Washington, D.C., earlier this year. Mr. Thomas will collaborate with other senior leaders of the Raines management team, including veteran advertising and marketing executive Matt Seiler and Innovation Practice leader John J. Keller, both of whom joined Raines in 2019, as well as Patrick Gray, who joined this March as Head of the company’s Diversified Industrials Practice.
