Odgers Berndtson Expands Atlanta Office

Just months after opening its Atlanta office, Odgers Berndtson has hired Catherine Bass Black, its fourth Atlanta-based search professional. Ms. Black, who was previously the Head of Talent Acquisition and Director of Community Affairs at Bass Pro Shops, joins the firm as a Principal supporting the Industrial, Consumer, Board, and Leadership practices.

“Catherine is a very accomplished recruiter and a consummate team player,” said Steve Potter, CEO of Odgers Berndtson U.S. “She was a crucial part of the in-house talent management and corporate affairs functions at Bass Pro Shops, and we think she’ll have a similarly big impact at Odgers. We’re excited to have her.”

Before her tenure at Bass Pro Shops, Ms. Black was a Senior Associate at Korn/Ferry as a member of the Industrial and Technology practices. Ms. Black has also held executive-level positions in resource development for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta and United Way of Greater Atlanta. She has an MBA from Emory University Goizueta Business School and a BA from Sewanee: The University of the South, where she graduated cum laude. An avid community participant, she was the recipient of Springfield Business Journal 40 under 40 Award in 2018 and Atlanta’s Power 30 Under 30 Award in 2009.

“I’ve worked with Catherine earlier in her career,” said Mats-Ola Bydell, Head of Odgers Berndtson’s Atlanta office, “and I’m delighted to be reunited with such a formidable and professional colleague.”
