ASI Welcomes New Team Member

ASI is pleased to welcome Doug Macleod to the team and will be based in the Auckland office. As a Senior Consultant Doug brings with him a wealth of experience in the tertiary sector and his role will further develop ASI’s strategic growth by leading many of our international academic executive searches.

With 20 years of working for the higher education sector, the health sector and industrial organisations, Doug’s experience is very relevant to ASI’s client base. In 2003, Doug managed The University of Auckland’s participation in the PBRF (New Zealand’s national research assessment system), where the University obtained the top ranking. Moving onto Unitec, Doug ran their PBRF assessment (top ranked Polytechnic) after which he then moved to AUT University. As AUT’s PBRF Manager for the 2012 PBRF assessment Doug helped AUT to a “significant increase” in funded research portfolios resulting in a substantial increase in funding for AUT.  The PBRF is the largest research fund in New Zealand. Doug’s expertise in ‘research assessment’ has led to a wider interest in research performance measurement and profiling. His breadth and depth of understanding of the research environment is particularly helpful in his discussions with prospective candidates.

Doug has Master of Arts with first class honours (focusing on evaluation research) obtained from The University of Auckland. He relishes working with a diverse range of client organisations and gets the most enjoyment the satisfaction of securing high calibre appointments adding substantial value to the performance of the organisation.

Doug is an early riser and a devoted all-weather cyclist and ocean swimmer who is a great addition to ASI’s dynamic culture.
