J. Richard & Co. was established in 1984 to provide highly specialized advisory services to varied corporations regarding Board and executive compensation matters. Our services range from new position total compensation package advice for individual executives to major research studies and pay and equity program design assistance for corporations. We are typically retained directly by the Board Compensation Committee or by the CEO, CFO, Chief Legal Counsel, or the Head of Human Resources.
Most of our Clients are small- to mid-cap size, public and private (i.e. pre-IPO) companies in the technology, professional services, life sciences, specialty retail, and financial sectors. Our Client relationships tend to be long-term-focused with assignments geared toward Compensation Committee Agendas and review. We are retained on both a fixed-fee as well as an ad hoc hourly basis.
"J." E. Richard is the founder and Managing Director and has worked in this field since 1969. Prior to 1984, he was executive compensation practice lead for several major compensation consulting firms and also held top human resources executive and senior compensation staff positions with several Fortune-ranked companies. He was also a senior faculty member of the National Association of Corporate Directors ("NACD"). In this role, he developed and delivered courses regarding general corporate governance, the Board's role in strategic review, and the responsibilities of Compensation Committees.
J. Richard & Co. also publishes books authored by J. Richard relative to Compensation Committee issues (since 1989) and Director Compensation (since 1995).
