55% OF AMERICAN AND EUROPEAN EXECUTIVES CHOOSE CHINA OVER INDIA AND RUSSIA AS MOST ATTRACTIVE MARKET
New York, March 25, 2008 — In a poll between 18th January and 22nd February 2008 sponsored by TheLadders.com, senior executive members of BlueSteps, the Association of Executive Search Consultants career management service, overwhelmingly chose China over India and Russia as the market in which they could best boost their careers.
Participants were asked, "If you were to relocate to a high growth market for career advancement, would you elect to take an assignment in China, India or Russia?" Respondents stated:
- 54.4% China
- 28.0% India, and
- 17.6% Russia.
63% of the 324 respondents hailed from America, 27.6% from EMEA, and 9.6% were based in Asia Pacific. A majority felt that staying between 2 and 4 years would be most impactful.
AESC president Peter Felix noted, "In the context of the global executive talent shortage this survey demonstrates that it may not be just companies but also countries that have to compete for the best. Developing an attractive recruitment proposition has always been a key part of the executive search equation. How a company or country are perceived can often be decisive in whether an executive will decide to move or not."
