AESC RELEASES PROFESSIONAL CODES IN RUSSIAN FOR EXECUTIVE SEARCH FIRMS AND THEIR CLIENTS

Response to Increased Executive Search Activity in Russia

BRUSSELS, 31 July 2007 — The Association of Executive Search Consultants (AESC), the worldwide professional association for retained executive search firms, today announced the release of its Code of Ethics and Client’s Bill of Rights in Russian language. The professional codes illustrate AESC thinking about issues such as accepting and performing client assignments, preserving the confidentiality of client and candidate information and avoiding conflicts of interest.

Brigitte Arhold, AESC EMEA Director, comments, “The decision to publish our professional standards in the Russian language came in response to the needs of our Russian based members to better define their profession and is also reflective of the current economic climate, whereby growth in emerging markets has led to an increase in executive search activity.”

Arhold explains, “There is greater awareness among organisation leaders today of the added value that professionally conducted executive search consulting can provide. The guidelines emphasise the respective rights and obligations of the clients and consultants involved in the executive search process. Partnership and mutual commitment are paramount to the successful outcome of a senior executive hiring.”

In other sensitive areas of professional practice, such as conflicts of interest, the AESC offers strong guidelines imposing that executive search firms ensure existing or potential conflicts are fully disclosed and addressed to the satisfaction of all parties concerned. If conflicts cannot be resolved then the search consultant should either not accept, or withdraw from the search assignment.
