55% OF EXECUTIVES SPEND MORE TIME CAREER NETWORKING ONLINE THAN IN-PERSON

NEW YORK, NOVEMBER 13, 2006 — A new global survey of 597 senior executives by the Association of Executive Search Consultants (AESC) revealed 55% spend more time career networking online versus in-person. The poll was conducted from August 10 — September 8, 2006 by BlueSteps.com. BlueSteps.com, is the career management service of the AESC, the worldwide association for the retained executive search industry.

Historically, senior executives managed their career networking via clubs and other insular groups, but this is changing.

“In today’s challenging executive job market, the story is very different, with the Internet allowing senior executives to be more sophisticated in their approach to career management. Networking online in the right place is key to getting noticed by executive recruiters,” noted AESC President Peter Felix.

Respondents were asked, “In a given week, how much of your career networking time is done online versus in-person?” Results were as follows:
