A NEW GENERATION OF EXECUTIVE SEARCH PROFESSIONALS REVEAL A CHANGE IN WORKING PRACTICE

Spanish Retained Executive Search Consultants Gathered for the First Time in History in Collaboration with the Association of Executive Search Consultants

BRUSSELS — 11 JULY 2006 — Retained executive search consulting in Spain is undergoing an exceptional change. Spanish executive search consultants, who are members of the Association of Executive Search Consultants (AESC), met for the first time in history last month in Madrid with attendees traveling from Barcelona and Valencia. The new mood within the industry is one of transformation away from the previous methods of working in isolation from other players in the market. Interestingly, this revolution in old working values within the executive search industry also reflects the current political environment in Spain and the modern image of a younger country with younger leaders.

The AESC Spanish members discussed the current strength of the executive search market in Spain and the robust economic climate. Luis Truchado, Partner of EuroGalenus Spain (Penrhyn International), explained: “2005 was the year when the profession regained the record levels of 2000, and 2006 seems to be the best year ever, with growth figures between 20 and 30 percent for most retained only firms.”

Spanish executive search consultants are keen to build awareness about the retained executive search process and the factors that differentiate retained executive search from other forms of recruitment practice. The key differentiators being the consultative nature of the partnership and the commitment to quality and good ethics, which are codified in the AESC Client’s Bill of Rights and Candidate’s Bill of Rights, now available in Spanish. AESC Spanish members agree on the importance of gaining visibility for their trade Association within the local region.

AESC President, Peter Felix, commented, “When a hiring organisation enters into a partnership with an AESC member firm, the client is guaranteed to be working with a firm that has been awarded the AESC gold seal of approval, which means high quality, honest and ethical practice.”
